Ars Electronica, el festival de arte, tecnología y sociedad que tiene lugar en Linz (Austria), celebró en 2004 su vigésimo quinto aniversario. Bajo el lema ?Timeshift? [?salto temporal?], el simposio principal de este evento se centró tanto en la revisión de la historia del festival como en una proyección hacia el futuro, una predicción de las condiciones en las que se producirá el próximo timeshift en 2029. El presente artículo pretende, a partir de las aportaciones del simposio Timeshift - The world in Twenty-Five Years, revisar las predicciones de futuro que se han elaborado en el pasado y esbozar un panorama de la sociedad de la información en los próximos veinticinco años.
Abstract
Ars Electronica, the arts, technology and society festival that takes place in Linz, Austria, celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2004. Under the title ?Timeshift?, the event?s main symposium focused both on looking back at the festival?s history and on looking to the future, predicting the conditions in which the next timeshift, in 2029, will take place. This article looks to review the predictions for the future that have been seen in the past and assess the panorama for the information society in the next twenty-five years, based on the contributions to the symposium ?Timeshift?The world in twenty-five years?.
