Acción de las mariposas sobre la salud animal y humana (Insecta: Lepidoptera) (Influence of the butterflies on the human and animal health (Insecta: Lepidoptera))

Resumen
Las mariposas o lepidópteros no suelen ser consideradas popularmente como dañinas y, a lo sumo, se perciben sólo como inductoras de pequeñas molestias al entrar en las casas atraídas por la luz, o como productoras de daños porque sus orugas se alimentan de vegetales, dañando los cultivos y almacenes de vegetales y los tejidos de lana. En este trabajo se señala como estos insectos pueden también afectar la salud del hombre y de los animales por acción directa, ya que sus orugas pueden causar importantes irritaciones en piel y mucosas y porque sus imagos pueden causar daños oculares y transmitir enfermedades. También se explana su acción sobre la esfera psíquica, en forma de mitos y presagios. Con fotografías.
Abstract
This paper points out that the butterflies or lepidopteron are considered as beautiful animals and not as harmful insects. The people only believe these insect as producers of small nuisances, when entering in the houses, attracted by the light. Or that, at most, these produce slight damages because its caterpillars feed of vegetables and cause damages to the cultivations and warehouses of vegetables and to the wool fabrics.
The author describes the form in that these insects dog affect to health of the man and the animals, because some caterpillars can cause important irritations in skin and mucous and other can cause ocular damages and to transmit illnesses. Finally the effect on the psychic sphere in form of myths or premonitions are indicated. Photographs are added.
