Benchmark Constitution

University of Utah Benchmark Plaza Area Council Constitution PREAMBLE We, the residentsof Benchmark Plaza, in conjunction with the Residence Halls Association and Housing and Residential Education, hereby establish this constitution of the Benchmark Plaza Area Council in order to promote and provide betterment of residential living and community building within our area. ARTICLE 1 – PURPOSE The Purpose of the Benchmark Plaza Area Council is: 1. To promote and provide an educational and social environment for all Benchmark Plaza residents through programming and actively seeking resident involvement; 2. To represent the interests and concerns of the residents to all appropriate persons and to formulate and advocate policies consistent with these interests; 3. To be a resource and communicate about current events, policies, and procedures to the students in Benchmark Plaza; 4. To develop leadership in Benchmark Plaza. ARTICLE II – ORGANIZATION & MEMBERSHIP Section A – Organization and Governing Power 1. The Benchmark Plaza Area Council shall be organized with an Executive Board and an Area Council. 2. The governing power of Benchmark Plaza Area Council is vested in the Executive Board and Area Council as expressed herein. 3. All Benchmark Plaza Area Council Officers shall be elected at the beginning of the Fall Semester by eligible residents of Benchmark Plaza for a term of one academic year to begin upon inauguration. 4.
