After a short review of someearlier publications on Naxi, this paper offers new data (the syllabic inventory of aWestern Naxi dialect, based on first-hand fieldwork), and a guide to an olderresource: the correspondences between our transcriptions and the script inventedby the ‘botanist-explorer’ Joseph F.
