Policy Review Intelligence & The Independent Convene 'Fair Energy Summit' PR Newswire LONDON, November 14, 2012 LONDON, November 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Energy Secretary confirms for major summit to discuss a fair energy deal for consumers Policy Review Intelligence and The Independent newspaper have today announced the Fair Energy Summit, the summit is being held in response to the concerns of consumers and policy makers over the rising cost of energy and to discuss other issues regarding the service provided by energy suppliers. The summit, taking place on the morning of Monday 17 December in Westminster, will be addressed by Rt Hon Ed Davey MP the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change and being supported by three major energy providers - British Gas, Co-operative Energy and E.ON. Energy and in particular its cost (along with the profits of energy companies) continue to be an ongoing public policy concern. The average annual household bill for gas and electric has increased from approximately £500 in 2006, to over £1200 in 2011 - with many firms announcing fresh price rises in recent weeks. This has led to both policy makers and the regulator OFGEM announcing new measures.
