PETA Sponsors Emantras' Virtual Frog Dissection Software for Schools and Colleges PR Newswire CHENNAI, September 24, 2012 CHENNAI, September 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Good News for Frogs and Schools Following on the heels of the University Grants Commission (UGC) announcement, requiring schools and colleges in India to phase out animal dissection in favour of computer simulations, PETA India (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has offered to sponsor virtual frog dissection software for science laboratories that are ready to start replacing dissection with a more humane, digital alternative. "Countless frogs and other animals are killed for dissection, even though non- animal methods for teaching biology are far superior," says PETA India Science Policy Adviser, Dr Chaitanya Koduri. "PETA India is eager to help universities and schools take the lead in teaching biology using humane, modern methods," he further added. In order to help educational institutions make this transition, PETA India has tied up with Emantras, the makers of the multiple award-winning Virtual Frog Dissection software (http://www.frogvirtualdissection.com). PETA India will sponsor the cost of purchasing Virtual Frog Dissection software to science classrooms for schools that are willing to offer student dissection choice policy or replace animal dissection with humane alternatives.
