Elsevier Celebrates 25 Years of Netter'sElsevier Celebrates 25 Years of Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy with Art Exhibit in New York PR Newswire PHILADELPHIA, March 18, 2014 Dr. Frank H. Netter's medical illustrations to be showcased at NYU Langone Medical Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced that it will celebrate ththe 25 anniversary and newest edition of Dr. Frank H. Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy with an exhibition of his paintings, and pieces by other medical illustrators working in his tradition at NYU Langone Medical Center. The exhibit, School of Netter: The "Michelangelo of Medicine," is open to the public starting today through April 30, located in NYU Langone's Medical Science Building Gallery. Dr. Netter had deep roots at NYU School of Medicine. In 1927, he enrolled at the medical school, where he later began creating medical illustrations as notes in his classes. Professors and other students noticed his detailed illustrations and encouraged him to pursue art. Even though he received his medical degree there, NYU is also where his parallel career began as a medical illustrator. "The Netter Atlas has been a pillar of medical guidance and education for medical students and is fondly remembered and referenced by practicing physicians.
