Elsevier and Russian Foundation for Basic Research Announce SciVal | Scopus Award Russia 2012 Winners PR Newswire MOSCOW, October 8, 2012 MOSCOW, October 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Elsevier, the world-leading provider of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services, and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) announced the winners of the 2012 SciVal | Scopus Awards Russia. The Scopus Awards, started in Russia in 2005, have been co-hosted by Elsevier and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research for the past two years to support scientific research in Russia by recognizing outstanding Russian scientists. This initiative is supported by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the Russian Academy of Science, and the Russian Academy of Medical Science. This year, the award was named SciVal | Scopus Award because the selection criteria are based on data from both SciVal Spotlight, Elsevier's analytics database, and Scopus, the world's largest abstract and citation database for peer- reviewed literature. The selection criteria consist of the number of publications and the number of citations over the last 5 years in growing competencies, drawn from SciVal Spotlight and from Scopus, as well as the level of activity in RFBR's programs and grants.
