There were over 185 million Chinese aged over 60 (13.7% of the total population) in 2011, but this will rise to an estimated 300 million in 2014. This demographic process will continue and is set to peak around 2030. Thanks to this trend, the care of senior citizens in China is a market experiencing significant growth. The market, now estimated to be worth RMB 1 trillion, is expected to grow to RMB 8 trillion by 2050. Care Show China 2012, an international conference on senior care will be held on 24-25 October at the Hotel Equatorial Shanghai. Mr. Yan Qingchun, deputy director of the China National Committee of Ageing, will give a keynote speech about regulation for the implementation of 12th five year plan for China's senior care sector.
