IT S THE GREAT POSTER,
CHARLIE BROWN!
As a graphic design student, you cannot hope
to avoid it, nor do you want to
:
the poster
assignment. When I was majoring in graphic
design at Penn State University back in the
early 1980s, we got this one in our junior year.
But the instructors were very clever and put
this mandate on it
:
Create a poster that, upon
looking at it, makes the viewer either want to
start doing something, or stop doing something.
Wow. That really made me think, because I
hadn t considered before that of course that
is what a poster is supposed to do. It s not
just decorative, it should really make you
feel something.
When putting this collection together I
asked myself
:
what Peanuts
images would fans
want up on their walls, so they can see them
every day? The answer is in your hands.
And so, if you re a Peanuts
fan
(
and of
course you are!
)
, I m hoping these posters might
urge you to
:
STOP
:
Frowning, lamenting, regretting,
despairing, and feeling blue. More important . . .
START
:
Smiling, laughing, remembering,
grinning, geeking-out, sharing. And rejoicing at
the genius of Charles M. Schulz.
